Post Doctoral Researcher | Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Gregorio Marañón | Spain

Dr. David Rodríguez Temporal is a clinical microbiologist and postdoctoral researcher whose work integrates microbial diagnostics, outbreak investigation, and translational infectious disease research. At the Fundación Investigación Biomédica Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid, he contributes to multidisciplinary initiatives that enhance hospital infection surveillance, microbial typing, and rapid diagnostic implementation. His academic foundation includes a degree in Microbiology, a master’s specialization in Clinical Microbiology, and a cum laude PhD in Medicine and Translational Research from the Universitat de Barcelona, complemented by ongoing training in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics that strengthens his focus on computational and machine-learning–based diagnostic tools. His scientific production comprises a robust body of peer-reviewed publications spanning MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, high-biofilm detection, fungal and mycobacterial identification, and multicenter evaluations of diagnostic technologies. He has collaborated widely with clinical microbiology laboratories and research groups across Spain and Europe, contributing to collaborative studies on carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales, dermatophytes, Nocardia, nontuberculous mycobacteria, and emerging nosocomial pathogens. These efforts have supported improvements in diagnostic accuracy, outbreak characterization, and infection-control pathways within hospital settings, while also advancing rapid, methodologically rigorous tools that strengthen public health response capacity. Alongside research, he has contributed to academic teaching in microbiology and health sciences, expanding the educational and societal impact of his expertise. His trajectory demonstrates sustained scientific development, collaborative engagement, and a growing influence in contemporary clinical microbiology. His academic influence is reflected in 437 citations, 22 documents, and an h-index of 9, underscoring his meaningful contributions to contemporary clinical microbiology.
